Betel plant is one of the invaluable medicinal plants where its leaves have been used for many medicinal purposes. It useful for the treatment of various diseases like bad breath, boils and abscesses, conjunctivitis, constipation, headache, itches, mastitis, mastoiditis, leucorrhoea, otorrhoea, swelling of gum, rheumatism, cuts and injuries [17]. The betel leaves are also nutritive and possess an insecticidal and antitumor activity [18], antioxidant activity [19], neuroprotective activity [20], antidiabetic and antihelmintic activity [21], antimicrobial activity [22] and many more. The leaves also contain a variety of biologically active components like hydroxychavicol, chavicol, piperbetol, chavibetol, piperol A, methylpiperbetol, and piperol. The key component of the leaf is a volatile oil known as betle oil [23, 24].
